History

Fragrances have been used since 4000 years BC. The earliest perfumes were made by burning herbs, flowers, woods and resins to make ritual offerings to the god

What is a fragrance?

A fragrance is a complex mixture of delicate scents, carefully balanced to produce the desired effect. A single fragrance can contain hundreds of ingredients. In every fragrance, the different scents combine and interact, creating a unique and individual aroma.

‘A fragrance is linked with emotions and moods’

The life of a fragrance

Fragrance is animated, vibrant and alive. It truly has a life of its own, constantly changing on your skin.

The first impression of a fragrance is never accurate, because a fragrance is designed by a perfumier to develop in three stages. Fine fragrance is an intricate mingling and balancing of many different scents, called “notes”. Fragrance always contains three stages: a “top note”, a “middle note” and “the dry down”.

Think of it this way: the top note is the invitation to the perfume, the fi rst suggestion of its scent. The middle note is the perfume in full bloom (this scent stays with you the longest), and the dry down is the lingering reminder of the fragrance's true personality.
